Hellenic American National Council

The Hellenic American National Council (HANC) is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization headquartered in Washington, DC, dedicated to advancing the interests and unity of the Greek American community across North America. Since its formal establishment in 1992, HANC has served as a coordinating body for multiple federations and associations representing Greek Americans throughout the United States and Canada, with representation extending to Greece. The organization operates through a democratic governance structure, with a Presidents Forum composed of representatives from constituent federations and associations, supported by an Executive Committee that includes the President, two Vice-Presidents, General Secretary, and Treasurer. HANC's comprehensive mission encompasses forging unity within the Hellenic American and Canadian communities, promoting Hellenic culture and language through educational initiatives including public forums, lectures, and newsletters, and protecting Hellenic human rights and historical truth internationally. The organization actively engages with diplomatic channels and community stakeholders to support the interests of the United States, Greece, and Cyprus, with particular focus on Eastern Mediterranean and Balkan regional concerns. Through its network of federations and associations, HANC mobilizes grassroots participation on national issues affecting the Greek American community, coordinates advocacy efforts with other organizations, and maintains ongoing dialogue with the Hellenic government and international bodies. Based in Washington, DC, HANC continues to serve as a unifying voice for the Greek American community while fostering better understanding of Hellenism among the broader American public.
