About American-Hellenic Foundation of Western Pennsylvania

The American-Hellenic Foundation of Western Pennsylvania provides comprehensive educational and cultural programming designed to strengthen academic and economic ties between institutions in Pittsburgh, PA and Greece. The Foundation administers scholarships for students and researchers engaged in European Union, Eastern European, and Mediterranean studies, with particular emphasis on understanding Greece's role in regional development and democratic institutions. Through academic exchange programs, the Foundation facilitates collaboration between internationally-recognized scholars and researchers from Western Pennsylvania's leading universities—including the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie-Mellon University, Robert Morris University, and Carlow University—and their counterparts in Greek institutions of higher learning. The Foundation offers modern Greek language instruction through accelerated and traditional academic programs delivered via local institutions and specialized community college offerings. Additionally, the Foundation supports cultural exhibits featuring Greek art and music spanning three millennia of history, community outreach initiatives connecting Western Pennsylvania charities with Greek-American philanthropy, and trade shows promoting technological and economic exchange between the region's service sector and Greek enterprises. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the Foundation is developing a flagship Hellenic Cultural Center and Heritage Museum positioned at the geographic center of Pittsburgh's four major universities, creating a centralized resource for students, visitors, and community members interested in exploring the Greek experience and contributions to Western Pennsylvania's cultural and economic landscape.
